Charles Saunders (rower)


Charles Edward Saunders (13 September 1902 – 9 August 1994) was a New Zealand rower who competed at the 1932 Summer Olympics and the 1930 British Empire Games.
He was born in Blenheim.
In 1930 he was a member of the men's New Zealand Eights team that won the silver medal at the British Empire Games in Hamilton.〔(Profile at the New Zealand Olympic Committee website )〕 At the same Games he won a bronze medal as part of the men's Coxless Fours.
At the 1932 Olympic Games he was part of the New Zealand men's Coxed Four that finished 4th.
In the 1975 Queen's Birthday Honours, Saunders was appointed a Member of the Order of the British Empire for services to rowing and the community.
